Agra Church was vandalised for unrequitted love
Agra, April 24: The Agra Church attack took an interesting turn today when the attacker confessed that he attacked the church when his love for a christian girl did not materialise. Police officials say that the man vented out his anger on St Mary's church when the girl stopped coming to church.
In his mid-20s and a resident of Sultanpura locality, near Eidgah colony, Haider Ali confessed to the police that he fell in love with a christian girl who refused to marry him because of the differences in their faith. He vandalised the church as he could not bear the rejection.
Ali had met the girl, also in her mid-20s, some four months ago. While she agreed to be with him initially, she later broke the relation saying that her family members will not accept the affair. Then she stopped coming to the church altogether.
"Haider has been detained on the basis of his mobile phone location," the officer said. While Ali said that he was alone during the vandalizing process, police does not believe him given the extent of damage in so little time.
