In Ayodhya, Gautam Adani Reaffirms Faith and Seva, Honouring India’s Living Traditions

Gautam Adani's Ayodhya visit combined spiritual devotion with a commitment to culture and education. The trip featured prayers at the Shri Ram Temple and a pledge to support Nishulk Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, including an AI-enabled laboratory to merge traditional learning with modern technology, underscoring Seva Hi Sadhana Hai as a guiding principle.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, undertook a significant visit to Ayodhya on Wednesday, combining spiritual devotion with a broader message on India’s cultural continuity and evolving educational landscape. Accompanied by his wife Priti Adani, son Karan Adani and daughter-in-law Paridhi Adani, Adani offered prayers at the Shri Ram Temple, one of the country’s most significant spiritual landmarks.

The visit coincided with Hanuman Jayanti, lending deeper religious and emotional resonance to the occasion. Describing the darshan as a moment of "extreme emotion and pride," Adani underscored the temple’s importance not just as a place of worship, but as a symbol of India’s enduring civilisational values, unity and rising national confidence. He noted that the ideals associated with Lord Ram—truth, duty, compassion and service—continue to hold relevance in shaping the country’s future trajectory.

Following the temple visit, Adani proceeded to the Shri Nishulk Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, located a short distance away, where he engaged in an extensive interaction with students and faculty. The institution, established in 1935 by Swami Tyaganand Ji and inspired by the principles of the Arya Samaj, represents a living example of India’s traditional gurukul system. This model emphasises holistic education through close teacher-student interaction, value-based learning and a disciplined residential environment.

During his visit, Adani observed how the gurukul continues to preserve India’s ancient knowledge traditions while nurturing intellectual curiosity and moral grounding among its students. He highlighted the importance of such institutions in maintaining a strong cultural foundation, particularly at a time when India is rapidly advancing in technology and innovation.

Emphasising the need to bridge tradition with modernity, Adani announced that the Adani Foundation will extend support to the gurukul by facilitating the introduction of an AI-enabled laboratory. The initiative aims to integrate emerging technological tools with traditional modes of learning, thereby equipping students with skills relevant to the future while preserving the essence of India’s educational heritage.

The gurukul currently educates around 200 students free of cost, reflecting its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. Its campus also includes a gaushala, reinforcing the integration of cultural, ecological and rural practices into everyday learning. The institution has historically attracted prominent national figures, including Mahatma Gandhi and Subhas Chandra Bose, adding to its legacy and national significance.

A notable moment during the visit was the collective recitation of Sanskrit shlokas by students, which echoed across the परिसर and highlighted the discipline and reverence embedded in the gurukul system. Adani spent time interacting closely with both students and educators, gaining insights into how traditional education continues to evolve while remaining rooted in timeless values.

Reiterating his guiding philosophy of "Seva Hi Sadhana Hai," Adani emphasised that service should not be viewed as an occasional act, but as a sustained and purposeful commitment to society. He linked this philosophy to the broader responsibility of preserving India’s knowledge systems while preparing future generations to navigate the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly technology-driven world.

The Ayodhya visit adds to Adani’s ongoing engagement with India’s spiritual and cultural traditions. In recent years, he has participated in major religious gatherings such as the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj and the Rath Yatra in Puri. These engagements, along with initiatives supporting the study of India’s history, languages and philosophy, reflect a continued emphasis on strengthening the connection between heritage, service and national development.
