AAP Alleges Attack on Candidate in Gujarat, Vows Not to Bow to Intimidation

Political temperatures in Gujarat are rising ahead of the upcoming municipal elections, with a sharp war of words between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the latest flashpoint, AAP has alleged a life-threatening attack on one of its candidates, intensifying the already charged election atmosphere.

AAP has been campaigning aggressively for the civic polls in Gujarat. Amid this, the party's state president Ishudan Gadhvi took to social media to claim that their candidate Ajaybhai was fired upon in Una. According to Gadhvi, the injured candidate was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

In his post, Gadhvi wrote that the attack reflects the growing desperation of political opponents. He added that despite attempts to secure a one-sided victory, AAP's candidate chose to stand firm and contest fearlessly, embodying the spirit of change that the party says it represents.

Reacting strongly to the incident, AAP's national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal condemned what he described as an attack on democratic values. Expressing concern for the injured candidate, Kejriwal said he is praying for Ajaybhai's speedy recovery.

He asserted that AAP's commitment to raising the voice of ordinary citizens and challenging those in power may be unsettling for some, but the people of Gujarat have now resolved not to bow down to intimidation. "The people will not back down-they will claim their rights," he said.

However, the local police have rejected claims of any firing incident so far, stating that no such evidence has been found. Authorities say an investigation is underway to establish the facts.

Despite the denial, the episode has further heightened tensions in the poll-bound regions. AAP leaders maintain that the incident underscores the risks faced by candidates who challenge entrenched political forces, while reinforcing their narrative of standing up for grassroots democracy in Gujarat.
