Awarapan 2 Teaser Out: Emraan Hashmi Returns As Shivam Pandit After 19 Years

Nineteen years after Awarapan became a cult favourite, Emraan Hashmi is all set to revisit one of his most loved characters. The makers have finally unveiled the first teaser of Awarapan 2 on the original film's 19th Anniversary. The teaser offers fans an emotional glimpse into Shivam Pandit's return. It promises to continue Shivam's journey with even more emotion, drama and action.

What Does The Teaser Shows?

The teaser opens on a melancholic note, revealing that Shivam is still haunted by the loss of Aaliyah (Shriya Saran) in the first film. He is witnessed living with grief that refuses to fade, and appears to be searching for a purpose in life. Emraan's character reflects, "Kuch logon ki kahaniyan unki marzi se khatam nahi hoti. Unki kahani doosron ke liye likhi jaati hai."

Shivam is seen standing silently at Aaliyah's grave, brief glimpses introduce Disha Patani playing the harp, and Shabana Azmi in a mysterious avatar. The teaser also packs gritty action sequences featuring brutal hand-to-hand combat in the rain.

A Glimpse At Few Emotional Dialogues

The teaser closes with a bloodied and battered Shivam staring straight into the camera and declaring, "Dard se purana rishta hai mera, Is baar ya to ye awaarapan khatam hoga, ya main." The ending perfectly captures the franchise's trademark blend of pain, sacrifice and action.

Toh Phir Aao 2.0 As Background Track In Teaser

One of the biggest highlights of the teaser is the return of the iconic track Toh Phir Aao. Composer Mithoon has recreated the beloved song as Toh Phir Aao 2.0, with lyrics by Sayeed Quadri. Although the teaser only offers a brief preview, it's enough to evoke nostalgia among fans who still associate the original track with Awarapan's emotional legacy.

Casting Of Awarapan 2

Apart from Emraan Hashmi, Awarapan 2 also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles, alongside Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar. The film is produced by Vishesh Bhatt, directed by Nitin Kakkar and written by Bilal Siddiqui. It is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14, 2026.

The sequel will face stiff competition at the box office as it is scheduled to release alongside Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947. The film is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and backed by Aamir Khan Productions. It also features Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal and Karan Deol in key roles, setting up an exciting Independence Day weekend clash.
