1 army personnel killed in explosion at Mahar Regiment centre, MP

One army personnel has died while another injured after an explosion occurred at a firing range in Madhya Pradesh. The explosion took place while a detonator was being installed during training.

The incident took place at the Mahar Regiment centre in Sagar on Friday. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident. The injured soldier has been shifted to hospital and is undergoing treatment.

Last year, the then Chief of Army Staff, General Dalbir Singh had presented the President's Colours to the 20 and 21 Mahar battalions during the Mahar Regiment's 75th-anniversary programme in Sagar. The regiment was raised on October 1 1941 and it is the only all-India all class infantry regiment of the army.
