Directorial Advisor Consortium appoints legal titans for strategic revolution

The Directorial Advisor Consortium (DAC) has launched a new Legal Advisory Council, appointing Senior Advocate S. Basavaraj and Advocate Anik to lead the initiative. Supported by judicial stalwarts, the council aims to bridge the gap between complex legal frameworks and corporate strategy, focusing on AI governance, digital sovereignty, and startup ecosystem support.

The Directorial Advisor Consortium (DAC) has officially opened a new Legal Advisory Council that will serve as a key legal think tank to change how businesses make decisions and affect the conversation about laws in India. The Council, which is led by the well-known Senior Advocate S Basavaraj and Advocate Anik, with Justice M N Venkatachalaiah (former Chief Justice of India) as Chief Patron and Justice Krishna Bhat (former Judge, High Court of Karnataka) as co-patron, is an unprecedented meeting of judicial and corporate strategic minds.

The Legal Advisory Council is a voluntary group that helps businesses and industries make sure that legal issues are taken into account when they make decisions about their core business strategy. Its main goal is to help people make smart decisions by connecting complicated legal issues with big business plans.

S. Basavaraj is a highly experienced Senior Advocate based in Bengaluru, practicing since 1988 with expertise in constitutional, corporate, real estate, and property laws. He is the founder of Daksha Legal and is recognized for his role as a member of the Karnataka State Bar Council (KSBC).

Advocate Anik M. Iktear Uddin, popularly known as Advocate Anik, is a distinguished Indian lawyer and co-founder of the Bengaluru-based law firm Prime Legal. With over 17 years of experience and a track record of handling 30,000+ cases, he is a prominent figure in criminal law, cybercrime, and high-profile litigation. Appointed as a Special Public Prosecutor for major cases in Karnataka, he also advises over 50 startups and fintech firms. An LL.M. rank holder from Bangalore University.

DAC next conclave will be about a few areas that will change things," Anik said. "Digital sovereignty and AI governance are the next big legal problems we need to solve. The legal effects of artificial intelligence becoming more common in business are deep and many. We can't let these new technologies get ahead of us when it comes to making strong legal frameworks."

The Council's agenda also includes bringing India's rules and regulations up to date with global best practices while still being useful in India, and making the startup ecosystem stronger by making legal frameworks easier to use and providing mentorship.

Advocate Anik added, "We are hopeful that under the visionary leadership of hon’ble former Justice M N Venkatachalaiah, Senior Advocate S Basavaraj, and our accomplished Council members, we will catalyze meaningful legal reform that benefits not just the corporate sector, but society at large."
