WWE India Superstar Spectacle 2023 Highlights: John Cena, Seth Rollins Win Main Event
After a six-year hiatus, WWE made its triumphant return to India with the thrilling WWE Superstar Spectacle, a 3-hour live event. The highlight of the evening was the dream team of John Cena and Seth Rollins delivering a flawless performance as they triumphed over The Imperium's Lugwig Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci in the tag-team main event.
WWE's resurgence in India marked a significant milestone, considering that the last live event held in the country took place in 2017 in Delhi. This time, the electrifying event unfolded at the G.M.C. Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

India has played a pivotal role in nurturing wrestling talents for WWE, with the legendary Great Khali being a standout World Champion who famously clashed with WWE Hall of Famer, The Undertaker. Jinder Mahal, another Indian sensation, was part of the card and previously headlined a show in Delhi. He, too, ascended to become a World Champion, engaging in memorable battles with superstars like Drew McIntyre.
Among the emerging Indian talents striving to make their mark in WWE is the formidable tag team, Indus Sher, led by Jinder Mahal himself, featuring Veer Mahan and Sangha. Another rising star, Dilsher Shanky, had previously appeared in the 2021 Superstar Spectacle and secured victory in an eight-man tag-team match alongside Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, and others.
One of the evening's standout moments witnessed fan-favorite John Cena teaming up with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Together, they squared off against Imperium's formidable duo, Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, leaving fans ecstatic with a resounding victory.
In the meantime, Rhea Ripley successfully defended her Women's World Championship against Natalya, who earned her title shot by defeating Zoe Stark earlier in the event.
Here are the notable results from the event:
- Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Drew McIntyre emerged victorious against Indus Sher.
- Natalya secured victory against Zoey Stark to become the #1 Contender for the Women's World Championship.
- Gunther successfully defended the Intercontinental Championship against Shanky.
- Bronn Breaker triumphed over Odessey Jones.
- Rhea Ripley retained her Women's World Championship with a win over Natalya.
The 2023 WWE Superstar Spectacle will be remembered as a spectacular showcase of talent, thrilling action, and the enduring passion for WWE among India's dedicated fans.
