The Kadapa Showdown: YSR Family Feud Takes Center Stage In Andhra Pradesh Politics

The election battle in Andhra Pradesh is heating up, especially for the Kadapa MP seat. This year, the competition is within the YSR family itself, with YS Sharmila from Congress and Avinash from YCP vying for the seat. The outcome is particularly important for Jagan, making it a matter of prestige. The TDP has chosen Bhupesh Reddy as its candidate. With Sharmila's entry into the race, Chandrababu Naidu is poised to make a significant decision, signaling a major shift in the political landscape.

With the goal of defeating Jagan, the NDA alliance, comprising three parties, has begun its campaign. Meanwhile, another alliance that includes Congress and left parties is also entering the fray. The YCP is contesting independently. Congress has unveiled its first list of candidates for AP, nominating Avinash, a two-time MP from Kadapa on a YCP ticket, once again. Avinash is aiming for a third consecutive victory. In a surprising move, PCC Chief Sharmila has also thrown her hat in the ring for the Kadapa MP seat. As YSR's daughter, she aims to challenge her brother's party candidate.

Amidst this intense battle, Sharmila and Sunita, along with TDP and Janasena, have raised serious allegations regarding Viveka's murder aftermath. Jagan addressed these allegations for the first time from Kadapa. He claimed that the district's people know who was behind Viveka's murder. Despite causing a rift in her family by deciding to contest, Sharmila stated she is running for MP from Kadapa to fulfill her uncle's last wish.

Kadapa has long been considered a stronghold for the YSR family and YCP, with Jagan winning the MP seat twice before. Avinash's victories in 2014 and 2019 further solidify this. However, Sharmila's entry into the race adds an interesting twist to this election. There are rumors that Chandrababu Naidu is reconsidering TDP's strategy in light of Sharmila's candidacy. Discussions are underway about possibly nominating former Minister Adinarayana Reddy for MP and having Bhupesh contest for the Jammalamadugu Assembly seat instead.
