Hyderabad Metro Phase 2 Big Update: Is this project approved spanning 76.4 km and Costing 24200 Cr?

The second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, spanning 76.4 km and projected cost of ₹24,269 crore, is seeking sanction from the Centre. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speed up the clearance of this critical project, which was blocked due to the previous government's inaction.

Despite Telangana receiving no new projects in the Union Budget, officials remain hopeful that the Metro expansion will be approved in the coming months. The project proposes five corridors, aiming to enhance urban mobility and connectivity across Hyderabad.

Revanth Reddy's Key Demands

During his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister requested ₹20,000 crore in financial aid for Musi River rejuvenation, including 27 sewage treatment plants, retaining walls, and connecting the Musi and Godavari rivers. He requested expedited approval of the southern section of the Regional Ring Road, claiming that 90% of the land acquisition for the northern section was already completed.

He also requested approval for a Regional Ring Rail parallel to the Regional Ring Road to improve railway connectivity in Telangana. He proposed the sanction of a dry port near the Regional Ring Road to boost exports and imports, along with a greenfield road and rail line connecting the dry port to a seaport.

The Chief Minister highlighted the shortage of IPS officers in Telangana, particularly amid rising cybercrime and drug trafficking cases, and requested sanction for 29 additional posts. He also appealed for the allotment of the India Semiconductor Mission project to Telangana, citing the state's potential as a semiconductor hub.

With these critical proposals, the Telangana government is pushing for rapid infrastructure growth, improved transportation, and enhanced law enforcement capacity in the state.
