Heavy Rains Pound Hyderabad, Many Areas Waterlogged; Orange Alert Issued

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Hyderabad, predicting thunderstorms and lightning.

The city is expected to experience a minimum temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 30 degrees Celsius.

Today's weather forecast includes thunderstorms accompanied by rain.

After heavy rainfall on Sunday evening, many areas in Hyderabad experienced waterlogging.

Social media users shared videos showing submerged streets and blocked roads. One user posted, "Kothaguda to Hafeezpet road full jammed with water due to the heavy rain."

Another mentioned cars being swept away in Housufguda and Musheerabad.

The city is likely to see continuous rainfall throughout the week, leading to a drop in temperatures by mid-week.

From July 16 to July 18, Hyderabad will have a generally cloudy sky with occasional rain or thundershowers.

The maximum temperature will be around 29 to 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum will range between 22 and 23 degrees Celsius.

On July 19 and July 20, the city is expected to witness more rain or thundershowers. During these days, the maximum temperature will reach up to 31 degrees Celsius, and the minimum temperature will be about 24 degrees Celsius.

The IMD has also issued alerts for various regions in Telangana. Areas like Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Naryanpet, Wanaparthy, Nagarkurnool Jogulamba Gadwal have received yellow alerts for heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning.

Meanwhile, B.Kothagudem, Mahabubabad, Suryapet, and Khammam have been issued orange alerts.

Netizens reacted swiftly to the heavy downpour on social media platform X. One user wrote, "#Hyderabad: Heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds lashed most parts of Hyderabad on Sunday evening. Many areas in Housufguda and Musheerabad were submerged in water. Cars swept away at some places. #HyderabadRains."
