Former Hyderabad Mayor Bonthu Rammohan Named in Hostel Building Dispute; Tenants Allege Threats

Serious allegations of intimidation, harassment and assault have surfaced against former Bonthu Rammohan and members of his family in connection with a hostel building dispute in Hyderabad.

According to the complainants, a couple had leased a building belonging to Rammohan's mother-in-law to operate a hostel. The tenants claimed they invested nearly Rs 2 crore into the property by taking private loans to set up and run the hostel business.

However, the couple alleged that for the past two years they have been facing continuous pressure and harassment from the property owners to vacate the premises before the agreed period.

Tenants Claim Court Status Quo Order Was Ignored

Fearing forced eviction, the tenants approached the court seeking protection. According to the complainants, the court later issued a status quo order regarding the property dispute.

Despite this, the hostel operators alleged that attempts were still being made to force them out of the building.

The couple accused the opposite side of using coercive methods and sending anti-social elements to threaten them and create fear among hostel residents.

The complainants further alleged that rowdies and members of the transgender community were sent to the hostel premises to intimidate staff and students staying there.

"We invested Rs 2 crore by taking loans and are now facing severe financial distress," one of the victims reportedly said while speaking to local media channels.

Complaint Filed With Panjagutta Police

According to police, a complaint was received at the Panjagutta Police station regarding the building dispute between the hostel operators and former mayor Bonthu Rammohan along with his wife Sridevi.

The hostel management reportedly alleged that despite the lease agreement, pressure tactics were being used to vacate the premises prematurely.

The complainants also sought intervention from the Telangana Chief Minister and senior police officials, alleging that they faced threats to their lives.

Police officials confirmed that a complaint had been received and said further action would be taken after obtaining legal opinion in the matter.

Hostel Staff Injured in Late-Night Attack

In another major allegation linked to the dispute, a hostel supervisor and a female staff member were reportedly seriously injured in a late-night attack allegedly carried out by followers associated with the former mayor.

Police shifted the injured individuals to a hospital in Ameerpet for treatment. According to reports, one of the women remains in critical condition.

The incident has triggered fresh concern over the safety of hostel residents and staff amid the ongoing property conflict.

The matter is currently under investigation, and further details are awaited from police authorities.
