Dry Day in Hyderabad: Liquor shops across several areas in Hyderabad, Telangana, will remain closed on Monday, July 14, 2025, due to the auspicious Sree Ujjaini Mahankali Jathara festival. This is one of the city's most prominent festivals, drawing large crowds and requiring heightened security and public order measures.
To maintain peace and ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations, the Hyderabad City Police have announced a 48-hour liquor ban from 6 AM on July 13 to 6 AM on July 15.

Areas Affected by the Liquor Ban
The ban applies to all wine shops, bars, and liquor outlets in parts of the city under the jurisdiction of 11 police stations. The specific areas where liquor sales are prohibited include:
Gandhinagar
Chilkalguda
Lallaguda
Warasiguda
Begumpet
Gopalapuram
Tukaramgate
Marredpally
Mahankali
Ramgopalpet
Monda Market
The shops will remain shut throughout July 14 (Monday) and will reopen on July 15 after 6 AM.
Official Notification from Hyderabad Police
The ban was confirmed by Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand, who issued an official notification declaring that the 48-hour dry period would be strictly enforced in the specified areas. The move aims to prevent disruptions during the religious festivities and ensure public safety.
The Hyderabad City Police have urged citizens to cooperate with the restrictions and celebrate the festival in a peaceful and orderly manner. Authorities have also increased security deployment in sensitive areas to manage the crowd and prevent any untoward incidents.
