Earthquake: 5.4 magnitude tremors felt in Guwahati

The 5.4 magnitude tremors lasted for about 15 to 20 seconds in Guwahati and surrounding areas.

There was commotion amongst people after the earthquake was felt. No casualty has been reported till now.

The tremor at 9:46 AM lasted a few seconds, jolting doors and windows. The epicentre of the tremor was at Karbi Anglong at a depth of 20 km with latitude 26.5 degree north and longitude 93.5 degree east, the MET office said here.

An earthquake of mild intensity measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale shook Assam in April, earlier this year.
