NSCA dy commander, NDFB(S) militant arrested

Guwahati, Sep 16: A self-styled Deputy Commander in Chief of the National Socialist Council of Adivasi (NSCA) and a hardcore NDFB(S) militant have been arrested by security forces in two different incidents in Assam today.

Acting on specific information, the police and troops of the Red Horns Division carried out operations in Hatoka area of East Karbi Anglong and apprehended NSCA's Binod Gowala, a defence spokesman said here.

The security forces recovered a 7.65 mm pistol, grenade and ammunitions from the possession of the NSCA militant. In another incident, the Army and police launched an operation in West Daisamguri area of Chirang district and apprehended a NDFB(S) militant Hwbtasad Brahma alias Darga alias Jathi.

A pistol along with ammunitions was recovered from his possession. Brahma was allegedly carrying out extortion on behalf of NDFB(S) and was also involved in providing weapons and ammunitions to members of the outfit, the spokesman added.
