4th Floor Buildings Illegal In Gurgaon: DTCP To Seal 58 Buildings Soon

58 separate buildings in Gurgaon are set to be sealed by the Directorate of Town and Country Planning Department in Haryana as early as 13 June, 2024. This comes after an order was issued to the homeowners of these 58 buildings around late May.

The notices given to these homeowners asked them to comply with the rules of building given by the DTCP. On February 23, 2023 had given out an order, making all buildings that had a stilt floor, with four floors on top, making up a total of five floors, illegal. This was meant to be a temporary ban as they were to investigate the issues relating to construction of such buildings and had even created a committee to study the problem, as reported by Hindustan Times.

Illegal Buildings To Be Seal By DTCP

The notices have asked homeowners to file a proper reply to the DTCP by 13 June. If a reply isn't provided by the stipulated time, the DTCP plans to start the sealing drive on all those buildings.

Notices were also given to 18 architects who had issued the Occupational Certificates (OCs) for these illegal buildings. These architects have been blacklisted, with the information sent to the Council of Architecture. The OCs for the 58 buildings will also be cancelled, meaning that services like water, electricity and sewage will be disconnected, and the homeowners can no longer buy or sell the property.

This news comes a day after the DTCP had already sealed nine residential properties DLF-2, South City 2 and Uppal Southend for violation of the S+4 ban. Some of these buildings were also running commercial activities in the building that were not approved by the department.
