Fact Check: Clip of BJP poll van being vandalised is not from Karnataka
The Karnataka Assembly elections will be held on May 10 and the results will be out on May 13.
Prominent leaders of the BJP are in the state to campaign for the party, which is looking to retain power in the state. The Congress has been saying that the BJP's star-powered campaign is not working in the state and the people are aggressively voicing their opposition against the party.

The Congress took to Facebook and Twitter and shared a video of a mob vandalising a BJP campaign vehicle. The accompanying text reads, 'not only the BJP candidates, but even seeing the BJP's campaign vehicle, people are disgusted and outraged.'
We have learnt that this video is not from Karnataka. A reverse search of the viral videos led us to a post on Twitter shared on November 1 2023. According to this post, the video was from Telangana. We also found a post on Facebook speaking of the same incident.
According to the post, the video showed an attack on the convoy of the Huzurabad MLA Eetala Rajendar in the Munugode assembly constituency of Telangana.
Videos of the same were also shared by the accounts of the BJP Telangana. According to the post, the attack took place during an election campaign ahead of the Munugode by-elections.
Union Minister Kishan Reddy took to Twitter and shared the video, while citing the frustration of the TRS over losing the by-elections.
Following this there was a war of words between the two Screenshot 2023-04-26 at 9.30.17 AM.pngparties. The TRS, now known as the BRS had accused the BJP of attacking its workers.
Hence it is clear that the video that has gone viral ahead of the Karnataka elections is old and in reality is from Telangana.
