Bengaluru witnessed high drama on Tuesday when pro-Kannada activist and former Bigg Boss Kannada contestant Rupesh Rajanna was taken into police custody after he attempted to lay siege to the official residence of Karnataka Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan on Golf Course Road.

In a viral video, Zameer's close aide Sarfaraz Khan is accusing Roopesh Rajanna of "blackmailing" and demanding money.

Rajanna repeatedly demanded money from him, citing his pro-Kannada identity and Bigg Boss fame. "He called me over 20 times, claiming he works for the Kannada cause. Is this activism or extortion?" Khan questioned, while recounting his own pro-Kannada initiatives as a former KGF Commissioner.

"He needs to understand what real activism is. Let him learn from leaders like Narayana Gowda of Kannada Rakshana Vedike," Khan added.

Roopesh Rajanna's Reaction

In response, Rupesh Rajanna denied the allegations and challenged Khan to provide proof. In a social media statement, he said, "I've seen the video where you make baseless claims against me. I will not back down without the truth coming out. Kindly unblock my number and show documents if you have any. I will come to your office tomorrow-please be there."

True to his word, Rajanna arrived at Minister Zameer's residence on Tuesday, allegedly to demand documentary evidence against Sarfaraz Khan. However, a heated exchange soon broke out between Rajanna and the police deployed at the location, leading to his detention.

Supporters accompanying Rajanna also attempted to stage a protest outside the minister's home, further escalating the situation. Police intervention prevented the protest from spiralling into chaos.

With the issue gaining traction on social media and drawing public attention, more developments are expected in the coming days.

Roopesh Rajanna is a pro-Kannada activist, actor, singer, and mimicry artist. He gained widespread public recognition as a finalist on the reality TV show Bigg Boss Kannada Season 9, where he was noted for his outspoken nature and involvement in several controversies and debates inside the house.
