Actor Vikrant Massey Lands In Soup Over 'Religious Statement' Ahead Of 'The Sabarmati Report' Release
Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey, who garnered praise for his superhit film 12th Pass, is now set to deliver another big film "The Sabarmati Report". Apart from his acting, Vikrant Massey is in talks these days for his views on secularism. During an event, the actor emphasised the importance of respecting all religions and cultures, drawing from his family's diverse background.
The Sabarmati Report will be released on November 15. Ahead of the big project release, Vikrant Massey started facing heat on social media for his statement about Muslims' safety in India.

Film's Inspiration and Challenges
The upcoming thriller drama, inspired by true events, is set against the backdrop of the 2002 Godhra train burning incident. Massey plays a vernacular journalist in this film produced by Ektaa R Kapoor and directed by Dheeraj Sarna. The cast also includes Ridhi Dogra and Raashii Khanna.
Massey revealed that he has received death threats on social media but remains unfazed. He explained that "The Sabarmati Report" is based purely on facts. "I have been receiving threats... it is something which I am dealing with and we, as a team, collectively are dealing with," he mentioned at the trailer launch.
Addressing Concerns and Misconceptions
When questioned about potential biases in the film's portrayal of events, Massey urged people not to form preconceived notions without watching it first. He stressed that artists tell stories based on facts and that this film does not focus solely on one aspect of the incident.
Ektaa R Kapoor clarified that while the film highlights one facet of the story, it doesn't undermine others. She described it as a "social commentary" and asserted her secular beliefs as a Hindu. Kapoor stated, "I will never make a comment about any religion because I'm a Hindu... I love all religions."
Political Neutrality and Artistic Vision
Kapoor denied any political influence in creating the movie about the Godhra incident, which led to communal riots claiming over 1,000 lives. She said she hadn't consulted any politicians or taken support from any political wing during its making.
Massey expressed gratitude towards Kapoor for giving him his first break in films with 2013's "Lootera." He highlighted their successful collaborations over eight projects and shared his pride in being part of "The Sabarmati Report." The actor compared its impact to that of 9/11 attacks in New York.
The film is co-produced by Shobha Kapoor, Amul V Mohan, and Anshul Mohan.
