Trisha Hugs Vijay’s Mother At CM Swearing-In Ceremony, Sangeetha Also Present

Actor-politician C Joseph Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday at a grand ceremony in Chennai, attended by family members, political leaders, film personalities and supporters. Among those who drew attention at the event was actor Trisha Krishnan, who was seen sharing a warm interaction with Vijay's mother, Shobha Chandrasekhar.

Held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, the swearing-in ceremony marked a historic political milestone for Vijay, who secured a sweeping victory in his maiden election just two years after launching the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).

Trisha Greets Vijay's Mother At Ceremony

Trisha arrived at the venue in a blue saree and was accompanied by her mother, Uma Krishnan. As Shobha Chandrasekhar entered the front row seating area, Trisha greeted her warmly and the two briefly hugged before taking their seats.

Pictures and videos from the ceremony quickly went viral on social media, with fans discussing the interaction between the actor and Vijay's family. Vijay's parents appeared visibly emotional during the event as they watched their son officially take charge as Chief Minister.

Speaking to reporters, Shobha Chandrasekhar expressed confidence in her son's leadership and said, "Vijay will lead this well; I have full faith in him."

The ceremony also coincided with Mother's Day, a detail highlighted by supporters and family members present at the venue.

Vijay Promises 'Real Secularism And Social Justice'

In his first speech after assuming office, Vijay said his government would focus on inclusive and transparent governance.

"A fresh, new governance has started and a new era of real, secular, social justice starts now," he said during his maiden address as Chief Minister.

Senior TVK leaders and cabinet colleagues Adhav Arjuna and KR Arunraj also assured supporters that the party would deliver transparent governance in Tamil Nadu.

Vijay And Trisha's Popular On-Screen Partnership

Vijay and Trisha remain one of Kollywood's most celebrated on-screen pairs. The duo starred together in films including Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006) and Kuruvi (2008).

After several years, they reunited in Lokesh Kanagaraj's Leo (2023), where they portrayed husband and wife. Trisha later appeared in the special song Matta in Venkat Prabhu's The GOAT (2024), a sequence seen as a nostalgic callback to their iconic Ghilli pairing.

Trisha and Vijay have continued to remain in headlines over rumours surrounding their personal relationship. Speculation intensified earlier this year after reports claimed Vijay's wife, Sangeeta, had filed for divorce and accused him of having an alleged affair with an unnamed actress.

The rumours gained further attention in March when Vijay and Trisha were seen attending a wedding together in Chennai while wearing matching outfits. Neither Vijay nor Trisha has publicly commented on the speculation.

Meanwhile, actor Sanam Shetty described Vijay's swearing-in as a defining political moment for the state.

"Even after winning the majority, even after creating a historic moment... the gruelling past week of political dynamic shifts hasn't allowed us to sleep peacefully. Today, we are going to sleep peacefully, dreaming of a better Tamil Nadu in the safe hands of our beloved Thalapathy Joseph Vijay sir," she said.
