Thandel OTT Rights: Producer Bunny Vasu Earned This Amount By Selling Digital Rights To Netflix
The romantic action thriller Thandel, featuring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, is gearing up for its much-awaited digital release after a successful theatrical run. The film, written and directed by Chandoo Mondeti, is inspired by a real-life incident from 2018 where Pakistani forces captured a fisherman from Srikakulam in international waters.
Box Office Success

Thandel opened to positive reviews and went on to mint Rs 88.64 crore (nett) at the worldwide box office. It grossed Rs 77.14 crore at the Indian box office, while overseas centres contributed Rs 11.5 crore to the film's earnings. The movie's gripping narrative, combined with stellar performances from Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi, resonated with audiences, making it one of the biggest hits of the year.
Star-Studded Cast and Crew
Produced by Bunny Vasu under the Geetha Arts banner and presented by Allu Aravind, the film was released on February 7. The movie boasts an ensemble cast including Prakash Belawadi, Rao Ramesh, Karunakaran, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Kalpa Latha, and Kalyani Natarajan. Devi Sri Prasad composed the music, while Shamdat Sainudeen handled the cinematography, and Naveen Nooli took charge of the editing.

The storyline of Thandel revolves around the rugged experiences of fishermen from Srikakulam, who accidentally drift into Pakistani waters during a routine fishing trip. The narrative seamlessly blends themes of love, revenge, courage, and patriotism, offering a gripping cinematic experience. OTT Release Details
Producer Bunny Vasu has sold the digital rights of the Telugu movie to Netflix for a record price. Yes, the streaming giant has secured the OTT rights of Thandel for whopping Rs 45 crore, with some reports suggesting the price might have reached Rs 55 crore. This makes it the highest-ever price paid for the digital rights of a Naga Chaitanya film.
Breaking the Telugu Film Producers Council's mandate of a 50-day gap between theatrical and digital releases, Thandel will premiere on Netflix on March 7, offering fans an early treat. The film's early arrival on the streaming platform comes as the movie has already completed its theatrical run.
The Telugu movie will be available in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam languages as well.
