Suniel Shetty Confirms Daughter Athiya Has Quit Acting To Embrace Motherhood

Suniel Shetty has revealed that his daughter, Athiya Shetty, has made the personal decision to step away from acting. Despite being only three films old in Bollywood, Athiya told her father she wasn't interested in continuing a film career.

In a candid conversation with Zoom, Suniel shared, "She said, 'Baba, I don't want to,' and she just walked away. That's what I truly salute her for - the clarity and conviction. She was very clear when she said, 'I'm not interested. I don't want to do films.'" He added that after her last movie Motichoor Chaknachoor, several offers came her way, but she chose not to pursue them. "She said, 'I'm comfortable, you know?'" he recounted.

Now 32, Athiya is embracing a new chapter in life. Suniel praised her for taking on what he believes is the most meaningful role of all - motherhood. "Today, she's got the best role of her life. She's working in the best film - the role of a mother - and she's loving it," he said.

Athiya's Bollywood journey began in 2015 with Hero, a romantic action film directed by Nikhil Advani and produced by Salman Khan. She followed up with Anees Bazmee's comedy Mubarakan in 2017, starring alongside Anil Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, and Ileana D'Cruz. Her last appearance was in 2019's Motichoor Chaknachoor, opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Since then, Athiya has been in the news more for her personal life. She married Indian cricketer KL Rahul in 2023. Earlier this year, on March 24, the couple welcomed their daughter, Evaarah. Recently, Rahul posted a heartwarming picture on Instagram of the couple playing with their newborn, along with a caption that read, "Our baby girl, our everything. Evaarah/इवारा ~ Gift of God."

Athiya's decision to leave the glamour of Bollywood behind and focus on family has been met with admiration by her father. Suniel's pride in her choice was evident throughout the interview, reflecting a supportive parent who respects his daughter's priorities.
