Dhanashree Verma Hits Back At Brutal Trolls After Divorce From Yuzvendra Chahal

The reality show "Rise And Fall," hosted by Ashneet Grover, premiered on Amazon MX Player recently. The series features 16 celebrity participants living together, competing for power and survival. In a promotional clip, Dhanashree Verma's interaction with Arjun Bijlani drew attention. Contestants were grouped into pairs or trios and given two briefcases: silver ones containing ₹1 lakh and gold ones with ₹2 lakh each. They had to agree on who would take which briefcase.

During their conversation, Arjun Bijlani remarked, "Dekho mujhe diamond, silver thoda suit nahi karta. Mujhe gold suit karta hai." This translates to "Look, diamonds and silver don't suit me at all. Gold suits me." Dhanashree humorously addressed the "gold digger" label she received from trolls after her divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal by saying, "Ye line toh main bol nahi sakti. Agar maine ye line bol di toh jo mujhe pyaar milne vala hoga vo bhi nahi milega."

Dhanashree Verma and Yuzvendra Chahal tied the knot in December 2020 after meeting during the COVID-19 lockdown. However, their marriage faced challenges over time, leading them to live separately by mid-2022. Eventually, they filed for divorce in February 2025. As rumours of their separation spread, Dhanashree was harshly criticised online and labelled a "gold digger" by some.

On the day of their final court hearing in March 2025, Chahal wore a black T-shirt with the phrase "Be Your Own Sugar Daddy," which intensified criticism against Dhanashree. Chahal later explained on a podcast that he hadn't intended to make a statement but felt compelled due to something that occurred during the divorce proceedings.

Chahal's Perspective

Chahal shared on a podcast that he didn't aim to create drama but wanted to convey a message because of an incident from the other side during the divorce process. He stated, "I didn't want to create drama, I just wanted to send a message because something happened from the other side… I said, 'Now handle it, I don't care about anyone anymore’."

Dhanashree expressed her surprise at Chahal's choice of attire during an appearance on the Humans of Bombay podcast. She commented on his T-shirt by saying, "Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyun pehna hai?" which means "He could've just sent a WhatsApp message. Why wear the T-shirt?"

Divorce Settlement Details

The Bandra Family Court officially granted their divorce on March 20, 2025. Reports indicate that Yuzvendra Chahal paid ₹4.75 crore as alimony to Dhanashree Verma.
