Pankaj Udhas Passes Away At 73
Pankaj Udhas passed away at 73 after a prolonged illness, his daughter Nayaab has confirmed the news to Bollywood Hungama.
"With heavy hearts, we announce the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024, following a prolonged illness," a statement from the family conveyed.

Udhas began his illustrious career with the release of the ghazal album 'Aahat' in 1980, followed by a string of successful releases including 'Mukarar' in 1981, 'Tarrannum' in 1982, 'Mehfil' in 1983, 'Pankaj Udhas Live at Royal Albert Hall' in 1984, 'Nayaab' in 1985, and 'Aafreen' in 1986.

His acclaim soared when he lent his melodious voice to the 1986 film 'Naam' by Mahesh Bhatt, with the song 'Chitthi Aayee Hai' becoming an instant hit.
Pankaj Udhas further solidified his presence in the industry with playback singing for numerous Hindi films, alongside global recognition through albums and live performances.
In 2006, his contributions were honored with the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award.
