Nora Fatehi Addresses Concerns Of Over-Sexualisation In Dance Performances For Family Audiences

Actress and dancer Nora Fatehi recently addressed the perception of being "over-sexualised" due to her dance numbers. In an interview, she expressed her dedication to making her performances elegant and appropriate for all audiences, including children and families. She views her music videos as energetic dance pieces with impressive performances and music.

Nora has always described songs like Dilbar, Saki Saki, and Ek Toh Kum Zindagani as dance-focused and performance-oriented. "These are songs with hard-core choreography, crazy hook steps, great aesthetics, fashion and amazing music," she explained. She aims to incorporate "Western pop music video aesthetics" into her work.

Inspiration from Bollywood Icons

She draws inspiration from Bollywood icons like Helen, Madhuri Dixit, and Katrina Kaif. "Helen did it, Madhuri ma'am did it, Katrina did it," she stated. While some songs focus solely on sex appeal, Nora believes iconic Bollywood songs emphasize dance. She is grateful that directors and choreographers share her vision.

The Moroccan beauty mentioned that her directors have always supported her in presenting herself authentically. However, she clarified that being sexy isn't inherently wrong. "There is nothing wrong with being sexy. I think it's a part of our femininity," she said.

Balancing Elegance and Femininity

Nora emphasised the importance of maintaining a balance between sexiness and elegance in performances suitable for families. She believes it's crucial to keep things classy so even kids can watch without discomfort.

Most of Nora's songs revolve around themes of love or romance. "It's nothing vulgar so there was no need to attach any vulgar imagery to it," she added. Her approach ensures that the content remains tasteful while celebrating femininity.

Upcoming Film Projects

On the film front, Nora will appear in the Telugu-language period drama Matka. Directed by Karuna Kumar, the film also stars Varun Tej and Meenakshi Chaudhary in lead roles. It is set for release on November 14.

Nora's commitment to maintaining elegance in her work reflects a broader trend in Bollywood where dance numbers are celebrated for their choreography rather than just their visual appeal.
