Malayalam Actor TP Madhavan Passes Away
Veteran Malayalam actor TP Madhavan passed away on Wednesday at a private hospital in Kollam at the age of 88.
He is survived by his daughter Devika and son Raja Krishna Menon, a noted Bollywood director known for films like Chef, Airlift, and Pippa.

Madhavan was a prominent figure in the Malayalam film industry during the 1980s and 1990s, having appeared in over 600 films.
Born into a distinguished family, TP Madhavan was the son of the eminent professor NP Pillai. He held a post-graduate degree in sociology, further adding to his well-rounded persona both on and off screen.
Madhavan began his acting career at the age of 40 after a chance encounter with actor Madhu. He made his debut in the 1975 film Raagam. Initially, he played villainous roles before transitioning to comic characters and, later, to notable character roles.
His career path could have been different, as he was once selected for the Indian Army but had to withdraw due to a fractured hand. Before stepping into cinema, he ran advertising agencies in Mumbai and Kolkata.
His versatility on screen earned him a loyal fan following, and his contributions to the industry were widely recognized. TP Madhavan was also the first General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), playing a pivotal role in shaping the industry. Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with amnesia in his later years, which ultimately led to the end of his acting career.
Madhavan spent his final years as a resident of Gandhi Bhavan in Pathanapuram, where he was honored with the Ramu Karyat Award and the Prem Nazir Award for his contributions to Malayalam cinema.
