Madrasi Movie Review: What's Good, What's Bad In Sivakarthikeyan-Starrer? Find Out

AR Murugadoss-directed movie Madrasi has opened to fairly positive reviews. The movie has Sivakarthikeyan and Rukmini Vasanth in the leads.

Vidyut Jammwal, who had played the villain role in AR Murugadoss' Thuppakki, is returning to Kollywood with Madrasi. Biju Menon, Monisha Vijay, Vikranth, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Prem Kumar, Thalaivasal Vijay, Rishi Rithvik and others in the cast.

The Tamil movie has Anirudh Ravichander's music, A. Sreekar Prasad's editing and Sudeep Elamon's cinematography.

Story:

An aggressive gun-smuggling syndicate is flooding Tamil Nadu with illegal weapons, prompting a relentless hunt by an uncompromising police officer.

Caught in the middle is an ordinary man, unwillingly drawn into the criminal underworld when his lover becomes a pawn in the syndicate's game. But this seemingly quiet man harbors a dark secret: a fractured mind that unleashes a violent psychosis when pushed to its limits.

As the law closes in and the syndicate's power grows, his fight for love descends into a brutal war with himself, blurring the line between heroism and insanity.

The movie has managed to generate a lot of hype with its trailer and promos. Will it live up to the viewers' expectations? Find out:

Haricharan Pudipeddi: #Madharaasi - 3.75 stars. A strong comeback for Murugadoss after Darbar and Sikandar. Doesn't make an out-and-out hero-centric film (a big relief) but instead relies on an emotional core plot point and merges it well with a social issue like growing gun culture phenomenon. A very realistic treatment in terms of action (a notch higher) is one of the major highlights of the film.

@Siva_Kartikeyan
amazes in a role that doesn't scream heroism. Has a very understandable vulnerable but gets his moments at important junctures.

@VidyutJammwal
couldn't have had a better return to Tamil cinema. Slick action is his forte and he pulls it off so comfortably yet again.

Overall, a satisfying entertainer and definitely one of the better star vehicles of the year.

Sreedhar Pillai: A enjoyable typical @ARMurugadoss action entertainer, with
@Sivakarthikeyan excelling in a character driven mass role.

The plot premise is interesting, the protagonist an ordinary man suffering from a psychological disorder gets dragged into something bigger and dangerous.

The villains are well etched with a menacing @VidyutJammwal & a psychotic Shabeer in deadly form. Biju Menon is neatly cast and @rukminitweets
fits the bill.

The first half is breezy & romantic while the 2nd half is action packed with a long drawn out climax. What an interval block, keeps you on tender hooks!

The production values are good, though overlong and need trimming in the second half.

Overall a decent action entertainer with Sivakarthikeyan making a mark in
a daring and different role.

Venky Reviews: #Madharaasi An Underwhelming Action Thriller That Starts Off Promising but Goes Haywire in the Second Half!

The film opens with an interesting setup that seemed promising. Although the romantic thread hampers the flow with back to back songs, the narrative regains some momentum by the interval. However, the second half is completely lackluster and goes nowhere. The film drags on endlessly, the expected payoffs never arrive, and it ultimately feels too lengthy and tiring.

ARM once again comes up with an idea with potential but falters in execution. SK did well along with the supporting cast. Anirudh's music is a major letdown. The songs don't click, and the BGM feels repetitive. Action sequences and production values stand out.

In the end, this is yet another film with promise that fails to capitalize. Below Par!

The film has an engaging setup with a typical ARM style hero characterization that works decently. The interval is handled neatly. However, the middle portions and the romantic thread feel dragged at times with too many songs. The music has been a letdown so far. 2nd Half Awaits!
