Kantara 2 Box Office Collection - Day 2: Kannada Version On Fire, Telugu, Tamil Add Strong Push
After a thunderous start on Thursday, Rishab Shetty's Kantara 2 maintained its momentum on Friday. Despite being a working day, the film pulled in audiences across multiple languages and regions.
Kantara 2 - Kannada Version
In the Kannada version, occupancy surged to an excellent 82.31% overall. The day began with decent morning shows at 60%, but it was the afternoon, evening, and night screenings that transformed into a celebration, crossing 90% in most centres.

Bengaluru, the biggest market for the film, clocked an impressive 86% across nearly 1,000 shows, with multiplexes and single screens alike reporting packed houses, as per Sacnilk data.
Coastal towns such as Mangaluru (82.25%) and Udupi-Kundapura (99%) witnessed an electrifying response, reflecting the film's deep cultural connect in the region. The interior markets too rose to the occasion: Mysuru touched 93.75%, Tumakuru hit 95%, and Raichur exceeded 95% occupancy. Even smaller circuits like Shivamogga (96.75%) recorded near-full houses, making it clear that the film had become a festival in itself for Kannada audiences. Interestingly, the Kannada version found takers outside Karnataka as well, with Hyderabad reporting 75%-a testimony to its pan-India draw.
Kantara - Telugu Version
The Telugu version also showed strong growth through the day, with an overall 67.69% occupancy. The morning shows were modest at 38%, but evening and night slots surged past 80%, particularly in Andhra's coastal belt. Vizag emerged as the standout with 80% across 117 shows, while Warangal hit 81%, and Kakinada held firm at 78.5%.
Vijayawada (65.75%) contributed consistently, though smaller towns like Guntur (58.75%) were a notch below. The hub of activity remained Hyderabad, where 69.25% occupancy across 544 shows highlighted the film's solid pull among urban Telugu audiences. Outside Telugu states, Bengaluru and Chennai reported moderate numbers for the Telugu version, indicating it was largely driven by its core market.
Kantara - Tamil Version
The Tamil version performed above expectations for a dubbed film, finishing the day with 58.93% occupancy overall. The real story was the growth in urban multiplexes. Chennai, the key driver, recorded 65.25% occupancy across 352 shows, with night shows pushing close to 90%, the data said.
Other cities joined in strongly: Coimbatore (59.75%), Trichy (66.75%), and Pondicherry (67.25%) showed solid traction. Even markets like Madurai (41.75%) and Salem (49%) reported a jump by evening. The smaller Tier-2 towns surprised as well, with Dindigul touching 66.25%. The Tamil version even registered an unusual boost in border regions, such as Kochi screenings hitting 55%. Overall, the film's mythological theme and buzz around Rishab Shetty's return ensured steady footfalls across Tamil Nadu.
Malayalam Version
In Kerala, the Malayalam version closed at 51.14% occupancy, which was a decent outcome in a state known for tough competition from local films. The highlights came from Kozhikode (65.5%), where evening and night shows approached houseful status. Thrissur (52.5%) and Kollam (54.75%) also performed consistently, while Kochi held steady at 51.25%. Trivandrum (44.75%) was weaker during the morning but improved with strong late-night footfalls, crossing 70%. Though not as explosive as the Kannada or Telugu runs, the Malayalam version found a respectable audience base, ensuring Kerala contributed significantly to the film's southern tally.
Hindi Version
The Hindi version, however, lagged behind the southern counterparts, ending the day at just 15.82% occupancy overall. Morning and afternoon shows were dull, but there was visible growth in evening and late-night slots.
Mumbai (21.5%) and Pune (25.5%) led the pack, with Pune's late-night shows climbing close to 50%. Kolkata too was stable at 22.5%, though NCR disappointed badly, managing only 11.75% despite high screen allocation. Surprisingly, non-traditional centres like Hyderabad (51.75%) and Bengaluru (48.25%) recorded stronger numbers for Hindi screenings than most North Indian metros, thanks to their multiplex crowd and cosmopolitan audience. The Hindi belt, however, will need a major boost over the weekend to add weight to the film's pan-India run.
The early estimates coming from the trade trackers indicate that Rishab Shetty-starrer has earned about Rs 45 crore (net) on day 2. On the first day, the movie had raked in Rs 61 crore and made Rs 14 crore from the Wednesday premiere shows.
The two-day total collection of Kantara in India stands at Rs 120 crore (net) with the gross business estimated around Rs 145 crore.
Taken together, Friday's numbers show a clear dominance of the Kannada version, with Telugu and Tamil contributing strongly in their regions, Malayalam doing steady business, and Hindi trailing behind but not without pockets of promise. The film's Day 2 India net of ₹45 crore is particularly significant because it came on a working day, which means the upcoming weekend could push Kantara 2 towards record-breaking numbers.
