Kanguva 1st Day Box Office Collection: Suriya's Film Gets Good Opening In Chennai, Bengaluru, Trivandrum

Suriya's Kanguva has made a good start at the Indian box office, attracting a fantasic response from the Tamil audience. Released on Thursday, the film opened with an estimated Rs 22 crore (Nett) collection in India, marking a positive reception, especially for the Tamil version.

In Tamil Nadu, the film achieved an overall occupancy rate of 32.96% on opening day. Morning shows drew a significant 35.04% turnout, which slightly tapered off in the afternoon to 33.11%, with evening shows rounding out the day at 30.74%, as per Sacnik data.

Chennai led the way, with a striking 51% occupancy from 171 shows, followed by Trivandrum and Kochi at 31.67% and 30.67%, respectively. In Madurai, the occupancy stood at 23.67% from 34 shows. The Tamil version showed the strongest results, with an overall occupancy rate of 45.59% on Thursday, peaking at 47.96% during evening shows.

Kanguva also saw promising occupancy rates in other languages, although Tamil audiences dominated in numbers. The Telugu version recorded an overall 36.10% occupancy, with a higher afternoon turnout of 38.58%. However, the Hindi version saw relatively modest engagement at 9.62%, while Kannada and Malayalam audiences showed moderate interest with 13.80% and 19.80% occupancy rates, respectively.

However, it has to be noted that the business of the night shows have not been included here.

Directed by Siva, who co-wrote the story with Adhi Narayana, Kanguva is an epic fantasy action adventure produced by Studio Green and UV Creations. The movie stars Suriya in a powerful role, alongside a stellar ensemble including Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, K. S. Ravikumar, Yogi Babu, and others.

Despite its mixed critical response, Kanguva has drawn praise for Suriya's captivating performance and its stunning visuals, which have particularly resonated with fans. As the film continues its theatrical run, all eyes are on whether Kanguva can sustain its early momentum and deliver a memorable box-office performance.
