Kangana Ranaut Calls Nurses The Most Undervalued Heroes Ahead Of Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata Release

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is all set to release in theatres on June 12. Actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has spoken about the lack of appreciation and recognition nurses receive within the healthcare system.

The upcoming film is based on the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and highlights how the staff of Mumbai's Cama Hospital displayed extraordinary courage during the crisis. While many stories of heroism from 26/11 have focused on security personnel and first responders, this film shines a spotlight on nurses, ward attendants, and hospital workers whose contributions largely remained behind the scenes.

Kangana expressed her hope that the project would help change society's perception of the nursing profession. According to her, nurses are among the most hardworking individuals in healthcare, yet they continue to face inadequate pay, exhausting work schedules, and a lack of social recognition.

She emphasised that nurses perform several critical responsibilities that often go unnoticed by the public. Kangana said it would be a significant achievement if the film encourages audiences to appreciate their work, even if only for a moment.

The Origin Of Nurses' Dress Code

The actor suggested that the dress code followed by many nurses today appears to have roots in colonial-era traditions. She noted that nurses are often expected to adhere to a more conventional uniform, whereas doctors generally have greater flexibility in what they wear.

Kangana stressed that the film approaches the subject with dignity and respect. She remarked that the true significance of a uniform lies not in its appearance but in the duty and commitment it represents.

Why Is The Film Titled Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata?

During the trailer launch event, Kangana revealed the story behind the film's title. She said the phrase was inspired by a term used by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2025 to acknowledge the contribution of India's workforce.

She explained that special terms have been introduced over time, such as "Divyangjan" for persons with disabilities and "Vishwakarma" for skilled artisans. In the same way, the expression "Bharat Bhagya Vidhata" was used to honour workers whose efforts play a crucial role in shaping the nation's future. The sentiment deeply resonated with the makers, leading them to adopt it as the film's title.

Kangana's Role And The Cast

Kangana will be seen playing the role of a staff nurse, bringing to life the story of a frontline healthcare worker whose service often goes unnoticed.

The film also stars Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Amrutha Namdev, Esha Dey, Priya Berde, Asha Shelar, Suhita Thatte, Rasika Aghase, Aditya Mishra, and Zahid Khan.
