With fans speculating whether the heartwarming drama will stream on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, or Zee5, the OTT release buzz has been building steadily ahead of its July premiere.

The wait is over - Kaalidhar Laapata will premiere exclusively on Zee5 from July 4, 2025. The news was officially confirmed by Abhishek Bachchan himself on Instagram. In his post, he wrote, "चर्चाओं पर अब फुल स्टॉप! Sometimes, getting lost isn't a detour-it's where the real story begins. Full of dreams, twists, and the people who make it worth it. Kaalidhar Laapata premieres 4th July, only on Zee5."

Directed by Madhumita, the film follows the journey of Kaalidhar, an elderly man who escapes his home after realising his family plans to abandon him. During his escape, he meets a young orphan named Ballu. Their unexpected friendship sets off a heartfelt adventure, packed with life lessons, laughter, and a quirky bucket list. The story explores themes of loneliness, hope, human connection, and rediscovery - all set against the backdrop of rural India.

Joining Abhishek Bachchan in key roles are Daivik Bhagela and Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub. Produced by Monisha Advani under Emmay Entertainment in collaboration with Zee Studios, the film promises emotional depth and simplicity wrapped in a feel-good narrative.

Zee5, which has previously hosted acclaimed originals and family dramas, will stream the film in Hindi with options for subtitles and possibly regional dubs. With its release set during the first weekend of July, Kaalidhar Laapata is likely to connect with a wide audience looking for something soulful and rooted.

Abhishek was last seen in Housefull 5 and Shootout at Byculla. He's also working on The Big Bull 2, a project titled King, a dance film directed by Remo D'Souza, and possibly Dhoom 4. But Kaalidhar Laapata marks his return to a gentler, more emotionally resonant story.
