‘He Was With Me’: Hema Malini’s Emotional Tribute After Receiving Dharmendra’s Padma Vibhushan

On May 25, the late veteran actor Dharmendra was posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, one of India's highest civilian honours.

Actress Hema Malini, his wife, received the award on his behalf from President Droupadi Murmu during the ceremony.

Hema Malini Expresses Her Emotions On Social Media

Hema Malini shared her emotions in a social media post. She described the occasion as spiritual. She mentioned that while she stepped forward to accept the award, she could sense Dharmendra's presence.

Appearing in a soft baby pink saree at the ceremony, she seemed visibly emotional as she represented her late husband on the national stage.

In her message, she recalled her beautiful love story with Dharmendra, a journey that began as co-stars and later turned into a lifelong partnership. She spoke about the emotions she felt during the ceremony, saying the moment became overwhelming for her.

Hema Malini described Dharmendra as more than just a celebrated actor. She recognised him as a devoted husband, affectionate father, grandfather, and a guiding figure in the lives of many around him. She further added that he was admired by everyone for his warmth, humility, and generous personality.

She dedicated the honour to their family along with his countless admirers. She also thanked the Almighty for giving her a life partner whose memories she will always cherish.

In the end, she mentioned in her note that the Padma Vibhushan was a deeply humbling recognition for her. She stated that accepting it on behalf of Dharmendra was an emotional and proud moment for her and the entire family.

Esha Deol On This Heart-Touching Moment

Earlier, their daughter Esha Deol also shared her feelings on social media, posting a picture of Hema Malini receiving the award. She described it as a moment filled with pride and emotion. She wrote that the family wished Dharmendra could have been physically present to receive the honour himself.

Esha also shared that her sister Ahana represented the younger generation of the family at the ceremony. She was there carrying the emotions of all six siblings as they remembered their father.

She further mentioned in her note that Dharmendra was a cherished presence who will always remain in their hearts.
