Did DMK Owned Sun TV Pay A Bomb For Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan Satellite Rights?
Tamil superstar-turned-politician Vijay has firmly positioned his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), as the primary challenger to the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu. On the other hand, Sun TV, owned by the DMK-affiliated Maran family, has reportedly secured the satellite rights for Vijay's upcoming film Jana Nayagan for a big amount.
If the reports in the tinsel town are to be believed, the market leader has paid staggering ₹55 crore (Tamil rights alone). Additionally, Netflix has acquired the digital streaming rights of the film for ₹121 crore.

Vijay Declares DMK As Main Opponent
At TVK's first general council meeting recently, Thalapathy Vijay made his strongest political remarks yet, directly criticizing Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He accused the DMK government of suppressing his political activities and labeled Stalin's administration as a "monarchist" and "fascist regime."
The actor-politician also alleged that Tamil Nadu's governance is controlled by a single family and lacks law and order, emphasizing that women voters would be instrumental in ousting the DMK in the 2026 assembly elections.
"The 2026 elections is a fight between two sides...TVK and DMK. Let us prepare ourselves for the fight," Vijay said at the end of his 15-minute speech. This is not just aimed at projecting TVK as the principal opponent to the ruling DMK but also putting the AIADMK on notice just a few days after the Dravidian party warmed up to the BJP after 18 months.
He declared that the contest is between the DMK and the TVK in the 2026 assembly polls. He alleged the DMK and the BJP of having a "secret alliance."
On the cinematic front, Jana Nayagan is set to wrap up shooting next month, followed by post-production. The film stars Pooja Hegde as the female lead, with Bobby Deol playing the antagonist. The supporting cast includes Priyamani, Gautham Menon, Prakash Raj, and Mamita Baju, with Anirudh composing the music and Sathyan Sooryan handling cinematography.
