Amitabh-Jaya Bachchan's Wedding Card From 1973 Goes Viral After Aamir Khan 'Leaks' It On 'KBC'

Amitabh Bachchan was taken aback when Aamir Khan presented him with his 1973 wedding invitation during an episode of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' to celebrate Big B's birthday.

Amitabh tied the knot with Jaya Bachchan (then Jaya Badhuri) on June 3, 1973, in a private ceremony at her residence.

In a new promo for the episode, Aamir brings out this cherished collectible-the original wedding invite of Amitabh and Jaya. The invitation featured a special message from Amitabh's parents, Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan, as well as the address of the wedding venue.

The message on the invitation read: "The marriage of our son Amitabh & Jaya, the daughter of Smt. & Shri Taroon Coomar Bhaduri, was solemnized on Sunday, the 3rd June, 1973 at Bombay. Your blessings are solicited."

Presenting the invitation, Aamir said to Amitabh, "Aapke no 1 fan hone ka saboot aapko de diya hai (I have given you proof that I am your number 1 fan)."

Amitabh and Jaya had dated for a couple of years before their wedding. Jaya's father, noted journalist Taroon Coomar Bhaduri, first met Amitabh in early 1972, when Jaya was dating him.

In a piece written for The Illustrated Weekly of India, Bhaduri recounted that meeting, which took place outside Jaya's flat.

According to National Herald India, Bhaduri wrote, "I met Amit one night in early 1972 when he was courting Jaya. Tall, lanky, dressed in a silk kurta and lungi-his then customary casual wear-he stood near his slick Pontiac (or was it some other car?), parked a few feet away from Jaya's flat on Juhu beach."

He continued, "I was coming back from a party and, as I got down from my car, the tall man (Lambuji as he was called by Jaya) suddenly emerged from the darkness and touched my feet. I looked up to see the white figure silhouetted against the darkness."

"'Are you the author of-?' he asked. 'Yes,' I replied. 'It is beautiful,' he said. That was all. But the resonant voice I heard that night still haunts me," Bhaduri added.

Amitabh and Jaya are parents to two children, Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan, and grandparents to three-Navya Naveli Nanda, Agastya Nanda, and Aaradhya Bachchan.
