Allu Arjun Faces Severe Backlash Online Over 'Celebration' After Release From Prison In Stampede Case

After being granted bail, Arjun was welcomed by fans and a number of celebrities at his Hyderabad residence.

However, the celebrations have sparked outrage online, with many deeming it inappropriate and insensitive, especially considering that a young victim of the stampede remains in critical condition, reported Hindustan Times.

Internet backlash over Allu Arjun's 'celebration'

On Saturday morning, Allu Arjun returned home after spending the night in jail following his arrest on Friday.

He was reunited with his family in an emotional moment, followed by a press conference and a stream of celebrity visits, including Venkatesh, Rana Daggubati, Sukumar, and Surekha. However, this show of support from the industry irritated many online.

On X, several users pointed out that while some had previously criticised the Telangana government for arresting Arjun, they were now critical of the actor himself.

"Today's non-stop celebrity visits and the publicity surrounding it have tilted the scales in favour of Revanth Reddy. I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling this way. I like Allu Arjun, but today should have been a day of reflection, not celebration," read one tweet.

Many fans shared similar sentiments, labelling the whole situation a PR stunt.

"The arrest was unfair, and now that Allu Arjun is back, what is all this 'tamasha' with Tollywood flooding his house and every moment being captured? It's going too far. It looks more like a PR stunt now, and they need to tone it down," said one X user.

Others expressed disappointment that Allu Arjun had not visited the family of the woman who died, despite promising to support them. "No one, not even Allu Arjun, visited the lady's family... This is the real Elite vs Poor," one tweet read.

The anger grew as it was revealed that the deceased woman's eight-year-old son was in critical condition and on a ventilator. "Raja Babu, who charges ₹300 crore per film, spent one night in prison and now the entire country is treating him like a hero returning from war. This country is cooked," ranted one user on X.

What happened at Sandhya Theatre

On December 4, Allu Arjun attended the premiere of 'Pushpa 2: The Rule' at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, accompanied by his wife, Allu Sneha Reddy, and the film's female lead, Rashmika Mandanna.

The large crowd gathered to see the actor caused a stampede-like situation, which resulted in the death of 35-year-old Revathi and left her son in critical condition.

In a press conference at his home after his release, Allu Arjun distanced himself from the tragedy, saying, "I was inside the theatre watching the movie with my family, and the accident happened outside. It is truly not directly connected to me, truly accidental, and purely unintentional. My love is with the family, and I'll be there in whatever way possible."
