Vijay's Jana Nayagan Hit By One More Trouble

In yet another shocking development, Vijay's much-awaited movie Jana Nayagan was reportedly aired on local cable channel in Tamil Nadu even as the film is yet to get clearance for its theatrical release.

It comes days after the full movie was leaked online. In a dramatic escalation of the initial online leak, the film was illegally broadcast by a local television station in Coimbatore.

The unreleased political thriller was aired on 11 April, India Today reported.

The matter was brought to the attention of the authorities by Mohanapriya, Deputy Secretary of the Coimbatore East unit of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK)-the political party founded by Vijay. Acting on the complaint, Coimbatore Superintendent of Police K. Karthikeyan mobilised two special units to investigate the breach.

The investigation led to the arrest of 44-year-old S. Palanisamy, the owner of the channel Raasi Prime Movie. Palanisamy, a resident of Ram Nagar in Karumathampatti, was apprehended by local police and has since been remanded to judicial custody following a court appearance.

Law enforcement officials have taken significant steps to dismantle the operation, including:

Seizure of Equipment: Police confiscated a computer, five hard disks, and various electronic peripherals used in the broadcast.

Premises Sealed: The channel's offices have been officially sealed by the authorities.

Wider Crackdown: The Cyber Crime Department has already arrested six individuals linked to the initial online circulation of the leaked content.

Originally scheduled for a 9 January release, the film was postponed due to certification delays. Alongside Vijay, the star-studded cast includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju.

The producers have reiterated their stance on the matter, confirming that they are pursuing rigorous legal action against all parties involved in the theft. Meanwhile, the police have issued a stern warning that anyone found distributing copyrighted material via cable or digital platforms will face the full force of the law. As the investigation continues, fans across the globe remain on edge, waiting for an official update on when the film will finally see a legitimate theatrical release.
