Dehradun, July 2: A cloudburst in Uttarakhand' Pithoragarh on Monday has damaged Seraghat Dam and also a Hydro Power Plant, news agency ANI reported. However, no casualties have been reported so far.
Earlier on Sunday, a private weather agency Skymet had predicted that the rainfall activity is likely to increase over the state of Uttarakhand. Moderate to heavy rains are expected to occur during the next 48 hours at many places over of Uttarakhand, which may even cause landslides and flood like situations at some places.
The state had suffered a massive tragedy in July 2013, when a massive cloudburst had caused flash floods and wreaked havoc, claiming the lives of more than 10,000 people. Thought of as the biggest natural disaster to have struck the country since the 2004 Tsunami, the Uttarakhand cloudburst had left almost 100,000 people stranded in the hills.
