Heavy rains, snow warning for hilly areas of Uttarakhand
Dehradun, Feb 28: The Met department issues warning for heavy rain and snowfall in some area starting from 48 hours starting from Sunday, advised people not to go to the mountains.
"Heavy rain/snowfall may occur at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts during 48 hours starting on March 1 and ending on March 3 while heavy rain and snow would occur at a few places in rest of the districts of Uttarakhand during the period," Anand Sharma, head of the local MET office said.

These districts which bore the brunt of 2013 flashfloods in Uttarakhand are known for their vulnerability to natural calamities. Thunder or hailstorm may also occur at isolated places in the state during the 48-hour period, he said.
There will be no major change in weather conditions on March 2 but the intensity of rain may begin to decrease from March 3 onwards, he said.
Residents have been asked to take necessary precautions and make arrangements to cope with problems caused by moderate to heavy showers, such as waterlogging in low lying areas.
