Weather Update: After Chennai, Heavy Rains Lash Tirunelveli
As Chennai is limping back to normalcy after the devastating rains, now, heavy rains have lashed the Tirunelveli district, causing flood-like situations.
The Regional Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts of Tamil Nadu.

The RMD said light to moderate rain at many places over South Tamil Nadu and at a few places over North Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph at one or two places is likely to occur.
"Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts of Tamilnadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai districts of Tamilnadu and Karaikal area," a statement from the weather-monitoring agency said.

As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the sky is expected to be partly cloudy, with the likelihood of light to moderate rain in specific areas, the RMD said, adding maximum temperatures are anticipated to range between 30-31°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to be around 24-25°C.

Last week, heavy showers pounded Chennai and nearby districts under the impact of a cyclonic storm. Low-lying areas and many residential parts witnessed inundation, causing a lot of damage to private and government properties.
