Annadurai criticised actor-turned-politician Vijay and the rally organisers for the tragedy, claiming negligence due to prolonged waiting under the sun.

Annadurai accused the organisers of deliberately delaying the event to gather more crowds. He stated that although Vijay was supposed to start at 8:45 am, there was a six-hour delay. This delay allegedly led to criminal negligence, according to Annadurai. He insisted that those responsible should face arrest and held Vijay accountable for his role in the incident.

Vijay's Rally Under Scrutiny

This is not the first time Vijay's rallies have faced criticism. His debut rally in Trichy earlier this month caused significant disruption. Massive crowds escorted his convoy from the airport, turning a short ride into a six-hour traffic jam. Such incidents have raised concerns about crowd management at his events.

BJP leader Ashvathaman Allimuthu expressed sadness over the tragedy, calling it an irreparable loss. He agreed with claims that Vijay waited for larger crowds, noting that such delays are common at his events. Allimuthu emphasised the need for organisers and state machinery to be more vigilant during such gatherings.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed shock over the tragedy on social media platform X. He ordered urgent medical treatment for those affected and instructed officials to restore normalcy swiftly. Stalin appealed to the public for cooperation with police efforts during this crisis.

Vijay has been conducting public meetings across Tamil Nadu, covering all 38 districts primarily on Saturdays. Despite criticisms, his team argues that his political journey is unique compared to other actors who ventured into politics. They believe his current popularity will translate into electoral success.
