TN Summer Holidays 2025: How Many Holiday Days Will Students Get & When Do Schools Reopen?
Tamil Nadu School Reopening Date: After the successful completion of Class 10, 11 and 12 exams, the summer holidays have begun for the schools in Tamil Nadu. The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE) has also announced the date of school reopening.
This year, the students are getting close to 40 days off.

Summer Vacation Begins
The Education Department has declared that the summer vacation for students in Classes 6 through 9 will begin on April 25, immediately following the conclusion of their final examinations. Teachers engaged in paper evaluation and other result‑processing duties are required to complete all related work by April 30, which will mark the end of the 2024-25 academic year.
Tamil Nadu Examination Schedule For Class 10, 11, 12. The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, conducted the Class 12 board exams between March 3 and March 25. The exams for major subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Commerce, and Humanities, were conducted on different dates.
When Will Schools In Tamil Nadu Reopen?
In a notification issued by the Department, officials have directed that all government and government‑aided high schools and higher secondary schools across the state will reopen for the 2025-26 academic session on Monday, June 2. School heads have been instructed to undertake all necessary preparatory work well in advance of the reopening date.
"All schools, including government and government-aided high and higher secondary schools, will reopen for the new academic year on June 2 (Monday). School heads have been asked to undertake preparatory works to be ready for the reopening," the notification read.
The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Tamil Nadu, had wrapped up practical examinations for Classes 11 and 12 in early February, followed by Class 12 board exams from March 3 to March 25, covering core subjects in Mathematics, Science, Commerce, and Humanities. Class 11 examinations ran from March 5 to March 27 across Science, Arts, and Vocational streams. Meanwhile, the Class 10 SSLC written examinations commenced on March 28 and will conclude on April 15, with vocational practical tests scheduled to precede the written papers.
