Tamil Nadu Weather: Nilgiris On Orange, 12 Districts On Yellow Alert Today
Tamil Nadu Rains: 13 districts are predicted to get heavy rains today, according to the daily weather bulletin released by the Regional Meteorological Centre.
11 Dists In Yellow, 1 Orange Alert
While Nilgiris district is on orange alert, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Erode, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tirupattur, Vellore,Ranipet and Tiruvannamalai districts have been given yellow alert.

The weather agency said that there is a gradual rise in maximum temperature by 2-3°C at a few pockets on Tuesday. However, the maximum Temperature is likely to be normal-below normal.
Chennai Weather
The RMC statement claims that Chennai is expected to get thunderstorms & lightning with light to moderate rain on Tuesday. Weather blogger Chennai Rains, in a Tweet, said that slow-moving thunderstorms west of the city, steered from west to east, could bring intense rains to western suburbs, potentially extending to city areas if they persist and advised commuters to be prepared for the rains while going home.
Weather blogger R Pradeep John, in a post, said: "Today is the best day in terms of wind pattern for KTCC (Chennai) to get rains. We will have chance of Rains in north TN till low pressure forms on around friday. Once the low pressure forms in Arabian sea, slowly the wind convergence will reduce in North TN. With pakka west movement, the storms in the land side will move towards city. Now storms are seen over Tambaram-Guduvancherry-Siruseri belt.Today the storms will come from land side from west as the UAC embedded in the trough will be developing more on the west side near Arabian Sea. Enjoy the rains today."
Monday Weather
On Monday, Hosur AWS in Krishnagiri district recorded highest rain at 12 cms. It is followed by 7 cms in Hosur, and 6 cms in Arakonam (dist Ranipet), Danishpet (dist Salem), Dharmapuri PTO (dist Dharmapuri), and Denkanikottai (dist Krishnagiri).
