Tamil Nadu Weather: Rains Give Relief To Chennai From Heat As Madurai Records 38.8°C

Several zones in Tamil Nadu's capital Chennai witnessed rains on Wednesday with Medavakkam in Zone 14 recording the highest rains (16 cms).

How It Rained In Tamil Nadu?

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre, three other Zone 11 (Valasaravakkam -1) and Zone 10 (Saliramam) registered 11 cms rains. Zone 11 Nerkundram (dist Chennai) and Gummidipoondi (dist Tiruvallur) got10 cms rains. It is followed by Zone 02 Manali-1 (dist Chennai), and Ponneri (dist Tiruvallur) that recorded 9 cms rains.

The weather agency has noted that maximum temperatures were generally normal to below normal over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and above normal by 2°C at isolated places over rest the state. The temperatures hovered in the range 33-38°C over the plains of North Interior Tamil Nadu; around 37-39°C over the plains of South Interior state.

In the coastal region, the temperature was in the range of 32-35°C and 23-29°C over hilly areas. Madurai recorded the highest maximum temperature of 38.8°C. It is followed by Tiruchirappalli (37.7°C), Erode (37°C), and Palayamkottai (37.1°C), according to the daily bulletin released by the Regional Meteorological Centre.

Karur Paramathi recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 21.0°C in the plains of Tamil Nadu.

The weather agency has predicted a gradual rise in maximum temperature by 2-3°C at isolated pockets for the next three days.

Chennai Weather Alert

As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 35-36°C while the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 27-28°C today.

Talking about the Tamil Nadu weather, Chennai Rains blogger said: "Under clearer skies afternoons to get hotter over North #TamilNadu and adjoining areas of Rayalaseema in AP.
