Tamil Nadu Weather Alert: Rain Expected In Parts Of State From Apr 8, No Relief For Chennai

The Regional Meteorological Centre in Chennai on Thursday predicted that one or two places over coastal Tamil Nadu are likely to get rains.

"Light to Moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Coastal Tamil Nadu, adjoining districts, Puducherry and Karaikal area. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of Tamil Nadu," the weather monitoring agency said in a statement.

It said that due to hot and humid conditions, "discomfort weather is likely at isolated pockets over the next five days.

During the 24-hour period, the maximum temperatures are generally normal to above normal across most regions. In particular, temperatures were 2-3°C above normal in many areas within the plains of north interior districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The temperature range varied across different regions, with temperatures ranging from 38°C to 41°C in many pockets within the plains of the interior districts, 33°C to 38°C in coastal areas, and 22°C to 30°C in hilly areas. Erode recorded the highest maximum temperature at 41.2°C (3.1°C above normal), followed closely by Karur Paramathi at 41.0°C (3.9°C above normal), the RMD said.

"Salem, Dharmapuri, Tirupattur, Tiruchirapalli, Madurai (city &airport) & Namakkal recorded 39°C to 40°C. Coimbatore, Thanjavur, Vellore, Tiruttani & Chennai (MBK) recorded maximum temperatures in the range 38°C to 39°C," the statement added.

The RMD has predicted light to Moderate rain from April 8 to 10 in a few places.

"Light to Moderate rain is likely to occur at one or two places over Coastal Tamilnadu, adjoining districts, Puducherry and Karaikal area.

Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the rest of Tamil Nadu.

As far as the Chennai weather is concerned, the weather is to be partly cloudy. The maximum temperature is forecasted to range between 37°C and 38°C, while the minimum temperature is anticipated to be around 28°C.
