Tamil Nadu shocker: Dalit youth assaulted, beaten up mercilessly

Chennai, March 19: In a shocking incident that shows how casteism prevails in our society, a 20-year-old dalit youth was beaten up mercilessly and tortured at Karuvanur village in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.

According to TOI report, some upper caste villagers attacked M Aravindhan, who belongs to Kuravar community, during a temple festival.

Aravindhan, works as a welder at a private company in Bengaluru and had gone to his native village to attend the temple festival on March 2.

He told the newspaper that some non-dalit people used filthy language against him and his relative R Dinesh.

When the duo opposed, they dragged both of them to a toilet and beaten up them with sticks.

Aravindhan fell unconscious and when he asked for water, the miscreants allegedly urinated into his mouth.

Dinesh, who managed to escape alerted his family members and rescued him.

When the dalit youth asked for water, villagers urinated into his mouth.

Police tried to down play the incident

Aravindhan, who sustained grievious injuries, told TOI that Kallavi police allegedly refused to register a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act and only registered an assault case.

However, when contacted, the police said that they have registered a case and are investigating the inhuman incident.

Similar incident happened in Madhya Pradesh

A dalit woman, who was elected as village sarpanch in Shivpuri district of Madhya Pradesh, was forced to eat cow dung and thrashed by some miscreants on Tuesday, March 17.

The goons were annoyed as Kusuma Jatav, a dalit woman was elected as sarpanch.
