Tamil Nadu School Holiday: Only 4 Working Days for Schools, Colleges Next Week

Good news for school and college students! After weeks of early mornings, homework, and exams, a much-awaited breather is finally here. The coming week (starting August 11) will be a short one, with only four working days - all thanks to Independence Day landing on a Friday this year. That means a neat little three-day weekend to relax, binge-watch shows, or hang out with friends.

Of course, high schoolers might grumble a bit since they'll be busy with march-pasts and cultural programmes on August 15, but hey - it's still a change from the usual classroom grind.

As per the 2025 academic calendar, students have 210 working days this year. The next big break will be the quarterly holidays, expected from September 29 to October 5, right after exams. There's also another holiday coming up this month for Vinayakar Chaturthi.

Once the second term kicks off on October 6, it's back to business. The second mid-term exam is set for November 11, and the half-yearly exams will run from December 15 to 23. Schools will then close for the half-yearly break from December 24 to January 2, 2026.

The third and final term begins on January 5, after the weekend of January 3-4. For Classes 10 to 12, the first revision exam will take place from January 8 to 21, and the second from January 27 to February 4. For Classes up to 9, the third mid-term exam is scheduled from February 17 to 19.

The annual exams for the 2025-26 academic year will start on April 10, with April 24 marked as the last working day before summer holidays begin on April 25.
