Tamil Nadu – Events that touched the heart in 2 years!

M.K. Stalin completed two years as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday. During this period, the State witnessed some heart-touching events. These incidents reflect the current administration's responsiveness to the needs and concerns of the common people, with the government taking the lead in addressing their issues.

One such example is the way the DMK government handled the severe second wave of coronavirus that hit Tamil Nadu during the power transition. Amidst challenging circumstances, the government took prompt action and lifted the lockdown in all districts. However, given the financial constraints faced by the State, there were suggestions from the public to allocate more funds to manage the crisis.

Here are some of the significant events wherein the government made efforts to alleviate the hardships faced by the people.

Amidst the curfew, a heartening gesture of support from Madurai's Arapalayam caught CM Stalin's attention of Chief Minister. A boy named Harish Varadhan had donated his entire savings, intended for purchasing a bicycle, to the Corona Prevention Fund along with a letter expressing his willingness to contribute to public service.

Moved by the boy's selflessness, Stalin lauded his spirit and went one step further by gifting him a bicycle to fulfill his dream. This act of kindness and public service garnered praise from all over Tamil Nadu and brought the boy's story to the forefront.

In a similar vein, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Stalin announced that the government would bear the education expenses of children who lost their parents to the pandemic. Under this scheme, the government would provide a deposit of Rs 5 lakh and a relief fund of Rs 3 lakh to the caregivers of such children, demonstrating the government's commitment to supporting those affected by the pandemic.

As part of its relief efforts, the Tamil Nadu government has identified the children who lost their parents to COVID-19 across the State, with nearly 500 children being identified in Tiruvallur district alone. In the first phase, the Chief Minister provided Rs 5.1 crore to 166 children, bringing tears of gratitude to the beneficiaries in the Kulithalai area of Karur district.

One such beneficiary, Sukanti, expressed her gratitude towards the government, highlighting the mercy shown by them towards the welfare of the people. The government's assistance has proved to be a lifeline for many children like Sukanti, as it helped them to get back on their feet in these difficult times.

After the second wave of the pandemic, the Tamil Nadu government provided relief funds to affected individuals. In Kalungadi, a small village on the outskirts of Kanyakumari, Velammal Bhatti's photograph holding 500 rupee notes went viral, representing the happiness brought by the government's grant. Chief Minister Stalin himself posted the picture on his Twitter page, calling it "The smile of these poor mothers is the smile of our government."

Upon discovering that Velammal did not have a house, Stalin immediately ordered a government house to be given to her grandmother, who had been raising her. Bhoothalingam, a DMK volunteer, accepted the payment of Rs 75,000 and handed over the relevant documents for the house to the grandmother.

In another heartwarming story, a boy named Abdul Kalam from Chennai gained fame after a video of his speech went viral on YouTube. Impressed by his message of unity, Stalin personally called Abdul Kalam's parents and provided him with a house in KK Nagar, Chennai, as he did not have a place to call home.

He even brought her baskets of fruit and visited her after a field survey to check on her health.

Tanya says her peers were treating her with contempt due to her deformity. Tanya has become a part of the Stalin family, a heartwarming gesture that Tamil Nadu has never witnessed before. In another incident, the Chief Minister unexpectedly came to someone's aid. He stopped his car and personally assisted a victim of an accident, sending him to the hospital and inquiring about his recovery the following day. The media made this incident headline news in October 2022.

Another incident involved a student named Divya from Narikuravar Samugam who gave an interview on a YouTube channel, showcasing her impressive English skills. She spoke about how fellow students don't treat them as human beings.

Seeing Divya's interview, chief minister called Divya and had a healthy conversation. Upon hearing Divya's request to be included in the tribal caste list, CM Stalin took action by writing a letter to the Union Government. These incidents demonstrate the unique aspects of the Dravidian model rule in Tamil Nadu over the past two years.

The above two events from the Dravidian rule's two-year history are particularly noteworthy.
Due to his efforts, the Narikuravar people have been transferred to the tribal list. These incidents have helped those people to immediately end the years-long communal problem.

Like her, Ashwini who belongs to the narikurava community, shared her experience in an interview with a YouTube channel, revealing that she was prohibited from participating in the Samabandhi feast at temples. The interview quickly gained widespread attention, prompting Minister Sekar Babu to extend an invitation for Ashwini to attend the Samabandhi dinner.

On that day, everyone could see the happiness on Ashwini's face, as if all the years of suffering had disappeared. What followed was a delightful surprise. On the previous year's Diwali festival, Chief Minister Stalin had visited Ashwini's residence in Pooncheri, where he implemented welfare schemes worth Rs 4.5 crore.

During a field survey, Chief Minister Stalin visited the homes of Ashwini and Divya, where their families welcomed him with garlands and hosted a party. There are numerous such stories that illustrate how emotionally connected Stalin is with the common people.
