Rajinikanth Health Update: Actor Undergoes Cardiac Procedure In Chennai Hospital; To Be Discharged In 3 Days

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth reportedly underwent an elective medical procedure on Tuesday.

The Apollo Hospitals, in an official statement, said that the actor had a swelling in the main blood vessel leaving his heart (Aorta), which was treated by a non-surgical, transcatheter method.

"Senior Interventional Cardiologist Dr Sai Satish placed a stenet in the aorta completely sealing off the swelling (Endovascular Repair. We would like to let his well-wishers and fans know that the procedure went, as planned. Mr Rajinikanth is stable and doing well. He should he home in two days,"

One doctor treating him told The Times of India: "It was picture perfect procedure. He is a superstar inside and outside."

He is expected to remain in the hospital for the next 2-3 days to recover before being discharged.

The actor was rushed to the hospital after he complained of severe stomach pain while shooting for Lokesh Kanagaraj's film 'Coolie'.

Rajinikanth's wife, Latha, earlier in the day provided a brief health update, telling News18, "All is well."

Reports claim that the elective procedure was led by interventional cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish in the cardiac cath lab.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has extended his well wishes to superstar Rajinikanth, who was hospitalized late Monday night.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Stalin wrote, "Wishing my friend Superstar Mr. @rajinikanth a speedy recovery after his hospitalization."

Newly appointed Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin wrote: "Superstar @rajinikanth is being treated in the hospital due to illness. I hope he gets well soon and returns home soon."

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi said that he stands with the millions of devoted fans of Rajnikanth around the globe, in praying for his swift and smooth recovery.

Rajini had fallen in 2012 and had undergone a kidney transplant in Singapore.

On the work front, Rajinikanth has been busy with TJ Gnanavel's 'Vettaiyan' and Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Coolie'.

'Vettaiyan' is scheduled to be released on 10 October. Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Manju Warrier and others are part of the cast.
