Kamal Haasan's Rajya Sabha Salary: How Much Will The Tamil Actor Earn Every Month In New Role?
Kamal Haasan, who began his illustrious journey in cinema as a child artiste in Kalathur Kannamma, earned his first salary of just ₹500. Since then, his rise has been nothing short of legendary. Over the years, he climbed the ladder of stardom, becoming the first Indian actor to command ₹1 crore as remuneration for a single film in 1994. In recent years, he's reportedly been paid as much as ₹100 crore for a film.
Now, Kamal steps into an entirely new role - that of a Rajya Sabha member representing Tamil Nadu. For the first time in his life, the veteran actor will be receiving a salary from the Government of India. And while it may seem like a drop in the ocean compared to his film paychecks, this role comes with something far more valuable: the power to influence policy and raise public issues in the nation's highest legislative body.

Tenure Details
A Rajya Sabha term lasts six years, with one-third of members retiring every two years. Unlike the Lok Sabha, the Rajya Sabha is a permanent body, ensuring continuity in the legislative process.
Though Kamal Haasan has commanded astronomical salaries in the film world, his new role is about service, not scale. For someone who has long voiced his opinions on governance, corruption, and development, the Rajya Sabha seat offers him the legitimate platform to walk the talk.
Kamal Haasan, who founded his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan in 2018, has become a Rajya Sabha member with the support of the DMK and Congress. He took oath on Friday.
