Kamal Haasan Loses Cool At MNM Event, Refuses To Pose With Sword | WATCH
Kamal Haasan lost his temper during a party meeting in Chennai on Saturday after a supporter insisted on taking a photograph with the actor-politician while holding a sword.
News agency PTI shared a short video of the incident on X (formerly Twitter). The meeting occurred just days after Kamal Haasan was elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.

Kamal Haasan refuses to pose with sword
During the Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) gathering, a number of admirers turned up to see Kamal. While he stood on stage, an individual approached him with a sword, attempting to draw it from its scabbard and asking Kamal to pose with it.
At first, the actor was seen smiling and shaking his head in refusal, although he held the sword briefly.
The person persisted, even trying to untie the knot on the scabbard. When he continued pressing Kamal to pose, the actor became visibly irritated and reprimanded him and his companions.
The video ended with Kamal nodding and signalling the group to move along. He also offered them a smile.
X reacts to Kamal's video
In response to the clip, one user posted, "You should mention why #KamalHaasan got angry for the sword gift. Also, you should have mentioned what he told his party member. He said, 'We can keep a book and a pen in our hands, not a sword.' He could have taken a photo raising the sword like others. He didn't. Good politician."
Another comment read, "He remains with his principle always, sword should be down, pen with book should be in hand."
Kamal elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha
Kamal Haasan, the president of MNM, was among six individuals elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
They received their election certificates from Returning Officer Subramani at the Chennai Secretariat.
The others elected include DMK's Poet Salma (A Rokkaiah Malik), SR Sivalingam, P Wilson (who returns for a second term), and AIADMK's IS Inbadurai and Dhanapal.
Row over 'Thug Life'
Kamal was last seen in 'Thug Life', directed by Mani Ratnam. The film, which also features Trisha Krishnan and Silambarasan TR, has encountered controversy in Karnataka following Kamal's comments about the Kannada language, which provoked backlash from local groups, including the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC).
The film's release has been banned in the state until Kamal issues a public apology for his remarks.
On 13 June, the Supreme Court asked the Karnataka government to respond to a petition seeking protection against threats related to the screening of 'Thug Life'.
The film was released in other regions on 6 June, where it received mixed reviews and declining box office returns.
