Drug Free State, Women Safety In Focus: Tamil Nadu Cabinet Sets 436 New Projects Across Departments

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government held its first cabinet meeting. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay led the session on Friday. The meeting took place at the state Secretariat. It lasted for more than an hour. The Chief Minister announced 436 new projects. These projects cover many different government departments.

Minister for Energy Resources and Law CTR Nirmal Kumar spoke. He detailed the government’s plans to the press. The projects focus on several key social areas. Focus areas include youth empowerment and women's welfare. Support for the fishermen community is also a priority. Making Tamil Nadu drug-free is a major goal.

Implementing the New Projects

The Chief Minister gave clear targets to each department. Respective ministers will now sit with their officials. They will hold consultations to draw up detailed plans. The teams will create blueprints for each project. These plans will help execute projects very quickly.

Efforts for a Drug-Free State

The government is taking strict action against drugs. Officials have already shut 717 state-run liquor shops. The goal is to stop drug circulation completely. This includes tracking substances from ganja to methamphetamine. The Chief Minister ordered the police to act now.

Authorities are sealing shops that sell illegal gutkha. In Madurai, officials sealed 24 shops in one week. The government is also invoking the Goondas Act. It targets people who sell dangerous synthetic drugs. Police are working to remove this menace everywhere.
